Growing roses in your garden

Roses are among the most beautiful of flowers. No garden is complete without them. If you are fortunate enough to have the space for a rose garden - with a little bit of care you can have a superb display for many months of the year.  That is the great thing about roses - they keep on giving and giving.

Some gardeners plant their rose bushes close together to get a good show of roses.  I prefer to give each rose as much space and air as it needs so that it grows into a strong and sturdy bush.  I have a huge red rose called Mr Lincoln and it towers to a shrub of about 12 ft high.  It has huge canes and it produces masses of large, fragrant roses all season long.

Even if you have a very small garden you can always grow  a special rose in a container. There are several good varieties that are suitable for growing in containers.

Just remember that roses need about 6 hours of sun a day and plenty water.

Take a look at the following pages to give you inspiration for your rose garden. I will add to these pages from time to time so remember to check in again.
