Most gardeners who think that Organic gardening is more time consuming are only considering the amount of time initially in setting up the garden, amending the soil and making a compost bin or pile. In our world of instant gratification we do expect to spray it, feed it, and make everything go away that might be "icky", while the Organic gardener tends to take the long view of improving the soil, using natural methods of pest control, fertilization, and weed control. Starting out initially to prepare the garden bed, provide mulch, control water use, and provide natural pesticides (from companion planting to beneficial insects and nematodes) will drastically reduce time spent weeding, spraying, digging, while providing the most toxic free produce available.
